LANCAMS support
Help with camera connections, video walls, local recordings and Recorder purchases.
Connect a camera
Connect your Apple device and camera to the same trusted local network. Enable ONVIF or RTSP in the camera configuration if required, then use Scan Network in LANCAMS. Enter a camera account that has permission to view its streams.
If discovery does not find the camera, try Find Unadvertised Cameras or add its supported stream address manually. Guest Wi-Fi, client isolation, separate subnets or denied local-network permission can prevent discovery. Use cameras and networks you are authorized to access.
Connection or playback problems
Check the camera address, credentials and enabled stream protocol. Test one camera first, then add more feeds. Sub quality uses a lighter stream where the camera provides one; this can help with larger walls. Compatibility and the number of simultaneous feeds depend on the camera format, network and device.
For a self-signed HTTPS camera, Review Camera Certificate lets you inspect its fingerprint. Trust it only after comparing it with the camera configuration. A changed certificate needs another review. This exception does not apply to every playback protocol.
Create a video wall
Choose a layout, assign cameras to its tiles and save the wall. Add to Wall fills an empty slot without replacing existing assignments. On Apple TV, use the remote to move focus, select a camera to watch full screen and use Menu to return. Play/Pause toggles audio in the full-screen viewer.
Record video and camera audio
With Recorder unlocked, choose Record Camera or Record Current Wall. The current implementation records compatible H.264 or HEVC RTSP sources, with up to four independent camera recordings. Other viewable formats may not support recording.
Turn on Record Camera Audio to include supported AAC-LC audio from the camera. Unsupported or missing audio can leave a video-only recording; check its details. Motion recording processes frames locally and can include a short pre-motion buffer.
On Apple TV, iPhone and iPad, recording stops when the app backgrounds. On Mac, the app must remain running. Automatic resume is an opt-in setting for when LANCAMS opens, not a promise of uninterrupted background recording.
Storage and missing recordings
Review the recording library and Storage & Recording Settings. Loop cleanup, retention settings and storage limits can remove older unprotected footage. Connection interruptions can create gaps.
Apple TV stores recordings in temporary cache storage, which tvOS can remove even when they are protected inside the app. Do not use Apple TV as your only archive. Export important footage where sharing is available, and verify your camera and device setup before relying on recordings.
Sharing and combined MP4 export are available on supported platforms. Keep original footage until you have checked the exported file; combined exports omit periods where no footage was recorded.
Restore a Recorder purchase
Recorder is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Choose Restore Purchases in Settings or Restore Purchase on the Recorder screen while signed in to the Apple account used for the purchase. An internet connection may be needed to contact the App Store.
If Recorder is not offered yet, the installed build or App Store listing may not have purchasing enabled. Availability across devices depends on the released app and App Store purchase configuration. Do not buy again solely to troubleshoot a missing entitlement.
Remove cameras and recordings
Use Forget Camera to remove a saved camera and credentials no longer shared by another camera entry. Delete recordings separately in the library. Review Automatic Resume in Settings, remove saved certificate trust where needed, and delete exported copies through the app or storage location holding them.
