LANCAMS privacy policy
ANIMIST OÜ (registry code 14092388, Estonia) provides this app. This policy explains its information handling and our support contact. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to appstore@animist.ee.
Direct camera connections
LANCAMS connects directly to the cameras, recorders and stream endpoints you configure. It does not require an ANIMIST account and does not upload camera video, audio or saved configuration to an ANIMIST server. The current app contains no advertising or third-party analytics service, and provides no developer-operated cloud relay or automatic iCloud synchronization.
Network discovery exchanges device addresses, service names, camera capabilities and stream information on your local network. The optional unadvertised-camera scan probes a limited set of nearby private-network addresses. Your cameras and other selected endpoints receive the connection requests and authentication needed to deliver their streams. If you enter a remote endpoint, those requests can leave your local network; the endpoint operator controls any logs it keeps.
Saved settings and credentials
Camera names, addresses, stream profiles, wall layouts, viewing preferences, recording defaults and optional automatic-resume rules are stored on your device. Camera usernames and passwords are stored separately in the system Keychain using device-only protection, rather than embedded in the saved camera configuration. The app reads them when authenticating with the selected camera.
Explicitly trusted camera-certificate fingerprints are also saved in Keychain. Trust applies to the selected host, port and exact certificate where supported. It does not make every streaming protocol encrypted. Use trusted networks and secure camera settings; unencrypted camera protocols can expose traffic to others on the network.
Video, audio and motion processing
Live camera media is decoded on your device. When you start a recording, LANCAMS Recorder saves camera video and, if Record Camera Audio is enabled and supported, audio received from that camera. This is remote-camera audio, not recording from your Apple device's microphone.
Motion detection processes camera frames locally to detect visual changes. It is not facial recognition or identification of people. Optional pre-roll holds a limited recent-media buffer in memory so a motion recording can include footage from before the trigger. Recording metadata can include camera names, dates, durations, motion markers, gaps and technical format information.
Only connect to cameras and record people or places you are authorized to monitor. You decide what to capture, how long to retain it and whom to share it with, and are responsible for any required notices or permissions. ANIMIST cannot access or respond to requests about footage held only on your devices.
Permissions and diagnostics
Local-network access is used for discovery and direct connections on systems that request this permission. You can manage available permissions in system Settings. LANCAMS does not request access to the Apple device's camera, microphone, location, contacts or photo library in the current implementation.
Storage capacity, connection status and recording diagnostics are processed locally to display status and manage storage. The app does not automatically send these to an ANIMIST analytics or crash-reporting endpoint. Apple may process operating-system or App Store diagnostics according to your system settings. Review any screenshots, logs or files before sending them to support.
Recordings, retention and deletion
On iPhone, iPad and Mac, recordings are kept in app-managed local storage. On Apple TV, recordings and their catalogue are temporary cache files that tvOS may purge. Apple TV is not archival storage, and protecting a recording inside the app does not prevent operating-system removal.
You can delete recordings in the library and configure storage quotas, loop cleanup and retention. App cleanup can remove older unprotected footage, including completed parts of an ongoing recording. Protected recordings are excluded from the app's automatic cleanup, but remain subject to device or operating-system data loss.
Use Forget Camera to remove its saved configuration and credentials that are no longer used by another saved camera. Recordings are managed separately in the library; forgetting a camera should not be treated as erasing its footage. Saved certificate trust can be removed through camera-certificate controls. Pause or remove automatic-resume rules in Settings to prevent an intended restart when the app opens.
Uninstalling the app is not a guarantee that Keychain entries, device backups, exported files or copies held elsewhere are erased. Remove sensitive data through the available controls before uninstalling and manage system backups separately. LANCAMS does not provide its own cloud backup service.
Export and sharing
Where supported, sharing a recording or preparing a combined MP4 gives you a copy to send or save through the destination you choose. That destination and any recipients control their copies. Exported media may identify people, places and events; review it before sharing.
Prepared export copies are temporary. The app removes copies older than 24 hours when another export is prepared, rather than promising deletion exactly 24 hours after creation. Deleting the original recording does not erase copies you have already exported or shared.
LANCAMS Recorder purchases
LANCAMS Recorder is implemented as an optional one-time App Store purchase, not a subscription. Where available, Apple processes payment and the app uses StoreKit to verify transactions, restore access and respond to purchase revocations. ANIMIST does not receive your payment-card details through the app.
Apple controls its purchase records and account services under its own privacy practices. Removing LANCAMS or deleting recordings does not delete those records. Purchase availability depends on the released version and App Store configuration.
Support and your rights
If you contact ANIMIST, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond to your request, investigate problems and handle related legal obligations. Our email providers process correspondence to deliver and store it. Do not send passwords, account credentials or unnecessary personal information.
Where applicable, support processing is based on providing the assistance you request and our legitimate interest in resolving issues; legal obligations may require some records. Ask us about retention or deletion of correspondence. A parent or guardian may contact us about information a child has sent to support.
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, a copy of personal data, or restriction of or objection to processing. You can withdraw consent for future optional processing without changing the lawfulness of earlier processing. ANIMIST can act on information it holds, not private device data or records independently controlled by another provider.
Service providers and international processing
Apple, advertising providers where used, and other services identified above process information under their own privacy notices. Hosting and email services also process data needed to deliver their services. Processing may take place outside your country or the European Economic Area; the applicable service notice describes its arrangements. Contact ANIMIST for questions about providers involved in handling information we hold.
