About RUMBLE and this policy
RUMBLE, also called Techno Rumble, is a MIDI-playable audio instrument by ANIMIST OÜ. This policy covers the Mac, iPhone and iPad standalone apps and Audio Unit (AUv3) plug-in, including development builds. It also explains the different local activation used by private Rumble Special desktop editions, including Mac and Windows VST3 builds where provided. This policy does not announce that any build is already publicly released.
The instrument generates and processes audio and MIDI on your device. ANIMIST does not receive your audio, MIDI performances, presets or DAW projects through the instrument. No ANIMIST account is required. The reviewed implementation has no advertising, analytics SDK, cross-app tracking or developer-operated cloud storage or activation server.
Audio, MIDI and host software
RUMBLE processes notes, MIDI controllers, sound parameters, tempo and transport information locally to generate sound. The standalone app receives MIDI from system MIDI sources. Waveforms and audio meters are calculated locally for display. The current standalone implementation does not request camera, microphone, contacts, photos, location or motion-sensor input.
When a host routes audio to the plug-in's optional external sidechain input, that audio is processed locally to control ducking. It is not sent to ANIMIST or automatically recorded by the plug-in. MIDI- and clock-based ducking do not require an audio input.
A DAW or other host can record output, store MIDI and automation, save project state, and use its own backup or cloud services. Those activities and any host permissions are controlled by that host and your settings. RUMBLE does not control or receive those recordings or cloud copies.
Presets and settings
Sounds saved in the preset browser are stored locally with their names, local identifiers where used and parameter values. The Apple app and AUv3 currently keep their user-preset banks in their respective local preferences or host containers; a shared purchase record does not mean a shared preset library. A host may embed the active instrument settings and preset name in its project.
Private Special VST3 builds keep their user sound bank in a local application-data folder. Local preset identifiers distinguish sounds, not advertising or online user accounts. Avoid personal or sensitive information in preset or project names if you intend to share them.
There is no automatic ANIMIST cloud synchronization. If you share a project or store it in iCloud Drive, another synchronized folder or a backup service, that provider handles those copies under its own policy. Interface artwork and factory sounds are bundled; no cloud AI service is contacted to create them while you use the instrument.
App Store trial, purchase and restoration
The App Store-targeted edition offers an optional seven-day free trial and a one-time permanent unlock through Apple's StoreKit. It is not a subscription and the trial does not automatically charge you. Availability and localized prices are displayed through Apple's store services; development builds may instead be fully unlocked.
The containing app requests product information and processes Apple-verified transactions, original trial purchase dates, permanent-unlock transaction identifiers, verification dates and revocation status to activate and restore access. Apple handles payment and Apple Account authentication. ANIMIST does not receive your payment-card details or Apple Account password through RUMBLE and does not operate a purchase-verification backend.
The app saves an access record in an entitlement-protected, device-only Keychain group shared with its AUv3. This record contains the original trial date, an unlock transaction identifier when present and a verification date. A separate local high-water date and elapsed-time checks help prevent a trial from restarting after a clock change. These checks are not uploaded to ANIMIST. The AUv3 reads the local access record rather than making StoreKit calls itself; purchase credentials and entitlement flags are not saved in presets or DAW project state.
Restore Purchases uses Apple to recover existing access. Reinstalling or restoring does not restart the trial. A verified permanent unlock can be used offline; refund or revocation changes are applied when the containing app refreshes StoreKit. Open the standalone app on each device to activate or restore access.
Private offline-activated editions
Private Rumble Special editions use a locally checked activation code instead of the App Store trial and purchases. The code is checked on the device; it is not sent to ANIMIST or a licensing server. The build retains local activation status in its local Keychain or application-data storage, depending on the format. It does not create an online identity or place activation credentials in DAW project state.
These editions can use separate storage for the containing app, AUv3, VST3 and host sandbox. An activation in one format or local user account may not activate another. Their offline activation does not create or restore an Apple purchase.
Diagnostics and Apple services
RUMBLE shows local audio, purchase and storage errors to help you operate the instrument. It has no automatic ANIMIST crash-report or usage-upload service. Apple may independently process App Store transactions, TestFlight information, crash reports or diagnostic-sharing data under its own services and your settings. Hosts may also have their own diagnostic systems.
If you choose to send a support report, ANIMIST receives the message and files you include as described below. Do not include activation codes, payment information or unnecessary personal content in reports or project files.
Retention and deletion
Performance buffers and active MIDI connection state are used while the instrument runs. Saved presets, host projects and local activation information remain until removed or replaced. You can manage saved projects, exported copies and backups with your host or file-storage tools. ANIMIST cannot remotely access or erase information held only on your device.
Removing an app may remove its local preferences, but Keychain access records can persist independently. Separate Special-edition application-data folders, DAW projects, host recordings and backups may also remain. Ask support for guidance for your edition if you need to remove retained local activation or preset data. Offloading, restoring a backup or reinstalling can retain or restore app data; it does not create a new App Store trial.
Deleting local data does not delete Apple's transaction records or copies already held by a host, backup or sharing provider. Manage those records with the relevant provider.
Support and your rights
If you contact ANIMIST, we receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to respond to your request, investigate problems and handle related legal obligations. Our email providers process correspondence to deliver and store it. Do not send passwords, account credentials or unnecessary personal information.
Where applicable, support processing is based on providing the assistance you request and our legitimate interest in resolving issues; legal obligations may require some records. Ask us about retention or deletion of correspondence. A parent or guardian may contact us about information a child has sent to support.
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, a copy of personal data, or restriction of or objection to processing. You can withdraw consent for future optional processing without changing the lawfulness of earlier processing. ANIMIST can act on information it holds, not private device data or records independently controlled by another provider.
Service providers and international processing
Apple, advertising providers where used, and other services identified above process information under their own privacy notices. Hosting and email services also process data needed to deliver their services. Processing may take place outside your country or the European Economic Area; the applicable service notice describes its arrangements. Contact ANIMIST for questions about providers involved in handling information we hold.
